How to handle wood with fire- and flame-retardant treatment

Woodsafe wood with fire- and flame-retardant treatment does not require any special handling compared with other types of wood.

Just as when handling any wood, it is important to use protective goggles and observe normal hygiene rules. Woodsafe fire-retardant wood with flame protection, certified as per Euroclass B-s1,d0 och K210, impregnated with Dricon or Non-Com, does not increase dust formation during handling or when worked with, but if dust is generated an extractor and respiratory mask should be used.

The following can be done

  • The material can be sanded, for instance to remove fibre lifting tendencies.
  • The material can be cut.
  • Sections can be cut out for close fitting.
  • Holes can be drilled, for instance for electrical installations.

The following should not be done without prior consultation with us

  • The material should not be split and turned inside-out. The cut side should not be put on the outside after treating with fire-retardant agent.
  • The material should not be planed.

How to store wood with fire- and flame-retardant treatment

All wooden panelling consists of a natural material that can be damaged if incorrectly stored. Woodsafe panelling with fire- and flame-retardant treatment, which serves as a fire-protection covering, is no exception.

  • Panels should be stored well off the floor.
  • Panels should be protected from rain and work-site pollutants prior to installation.
  • It is best to store them indoors.
