Simple salts bind harmful moisture in the wood

For many years through to today, dubious methods have been used to protect wood from fire outdoors, such as unstable salt impregnation which often leads to leaching problems.

The reason this method is so unstable is because simple salts are highly hygroscopic and absorb moisture from the surrounding air. As a result, the retardant agent literally stores large quantities of moisture inside the wood, leading in turn to rotting and salt leaching.

Woodsafe does not absorb harmful moisture

Woodsafe, on the other hand, has been tried and tested the world over for more than 25 years and consists of a complex formula designed not to increase the wood panel’s natural hygroscopic properties.

As far back as 1985, comprehensive tests were conducted in the USA at Underwriters Laboratories (UL), showing clearly that Dricon, the retardant used to impregnate Woodsafe products, does not promote these unwanted effects. Woodsafe does not absorb more than 3-4 percent more moisture than regular untreated wood, compared with simple salt solutions which in the worst cases can absorb up to 95 percent.

If you want to be sure of long-lasting, secure fire protection outdoors, you should therefore use Woodsafe - tried and tested for more than 25 years.
