School was completely destroyed in fire

A school at Hantverksvägen in Stenkullen burned to the ground on New Year's morning.

The alarm came at four o'clock on New Year's Day and when emergency services arrived at the school was already full flashover. Several units were on site but could not save the building.

The building is over 100 years ago used about 12 years ago as arts in Lerum Municipality, but was previously a regular school.

– We had all our drama, dance and art education in the premises, and some music education, "says arts school headmaster Gudrun Rosen.
– A wealth of art and a variety of props as well as including a large grand piano has been destroyed by the flames, "said Gudrun Rosen.

The school headmaster was himself on the spot at the school on Friday morning and found that, after all managed to save some instruments, especially various percussion;
– The fire apparently started on the back of the building, "said Gudrun Rosen.

– It is terrible what has happened and more than 300 students are now without premises when semester starts after the Christmas holidays. But we were trying to find replacement premises as soon as possible. Emergency services are on site and post-fire will continue throughout Friday morning. Police have cordoned off the site is blocked off to investigate fire cause.
